WHAT: Join Willamette Riverkeeper for our Trashy Treasure Hunt throughout the island while our restoration team offers an interpretive overview of the work completed on site to date. Gail Achterman Wildlife Area is recognized for its unique hydrology and is annually inundated during relatively high flows, making this site an island for many months each year. Trash debris is then carried in with these flows, but due to the challenging access of the site clean-ups are sparse. This day will be a wonderful and rare opportunity to come visit the site and explore the flora and fauna with our team. 

WHEN: Saturday, July 2nd from 11am - 2:30pm

WHERE: We will be meeting at Emil Marx Lloyd Fishing Hole where we will park vehicles (no fee) and then shuttle in together, past the organic blueberry fields, to the restricted walk in access of Gail Achterman. 

DETAILS: Dress for the weather by wearing warm clothing, possibly rain gear and sturdy, comfortable hiking shoes. Be prepared for walking moderate distances over rough terrain at times (no formal trails). Please bring work gloves if you have them, lunch, and plenty of water. Willamette Riverkeeper will have some gloves on hand to borrow if needed. No restrooms on site but a pit toliet is available at Emil Fishing Hole (parking). 

COVID: Willamette Riverkeeper will be following state and local guidelines. At this time we are not requiring masks, however this is subject to change. During shuttle to site masks are appreciated. Participants are still welcome to wear a mask during the event as well. Social distancing is encouraged.
Minors are welcome to join this event with an attentive adult who can sign their participation waiver and be present at the event.
