187 Miles of Wonder: A Journey to Protect the Lifeblood of Oregon

A 10-day educational and fundraising paddle

on the Willamette River from the headwaters to the confluence

Join Us on the River and for Our Mission

On September 15, 2025, Willamette Riverkeeper’s Co-Executive Directors will embark on a powerful 10-day expedition, traveling the full length of the Willamette River — from the confluence of its mountain headwaters at the Coast and Middle Forks, all the way to the Columbia River.

Traveling by canoe, raft, and powerboat, they will paddle 187 miles, stopping to engage with community partners, tribal leaders, policymakers, advocates, and volunteers — all united by their shared love and responsibility for this remarkable river.

We invite you to be a part of this journey.

Why 187 Miles? Why Now?

The Willamette River is the lifeblood of our state — it supplies drinking water, sustains fish and wildlife, supports agriculture, and offers countless recreational opportunities. Over 70% of Oregonians live in its watershed or within 10 miles of the river. Yet, our Willamette faces constant threats from pollution, development, climate change, and many other factors.

This journey is a campaign of hope, awareness, and action. We’re using these 187 miles to raise both visibility and vital funding for our ongoing efforts to protect and restore the Willamette River for everyone.

help us reach our goal and you earn cool incentives!
