Corvallis: Aquatic Invasive Species Paddle & Pull

  • Michael's Landing (Boat Launch) NW 1st St Corvallis, OR 97330 (map)

WHAT: Join Willamette Riverkeeper, Benton Soil & Water Conservation District, and Oregon Parks & Recreation Department to help hand pull aquatic invasive species, Ludwigia (water-primrose), Nymphoides peltata (yellow floating heart), Myriophyllum aquaticum (parrotfeather) and others on the Willamette River along the Corvallis to Albany stretch. These particular species are listed under ODA's Noxious Weed Control Program and are rated due to the negative impacts they have on the native vegetation, fish & wildlife habitat, water quality and overall watershed health. This will be an on-water event, so some river experience reccomended. Ten tandem canoes for volunteers will be provided by Willamette Riverkeeper.

If you are interested in learning identification tips, safe removal methods, how to report & dispose of invasive weeds, and have some fun on the river, then this is the perfect event for you!

WHEN: Thursday, July 15th from 9:00am - 4:30pm

WHERE: We will be meeting at Michael's Landing Boat Ramp in Corvallis, dropping off boats (staff guarded) and driving vehicles to Hyak Park in Albany. From there we will shuttle folks back to the put in (Michael's Landing), and get on the water from there. See link and map below for location.
