This event has reached capacity. We hope that you can join us at a future paddle!
Pick up a paddle and let's celebrate the Willamette River Greenway with Willamette Riverkeeper and our friends at Oregon State Parks!
Participants of all ages will enjoy a scenic paddle trip from downtown Salem to the Wheatland Ferry where we'll observe wildlife while learning more about the river, its history, and our combined efforts to improve habitat.
WHEN: Saturday, July 16 from 9:30am - 3:30pm
WHERE: Wallace Marine Park (200 Glen Creek Rd NW, Salem, OR 97304) in Salem to Wheatland Ferry West (11.5 river miles). Upon entering Wallace Marine Park, follow signs to the boat ramp at the southern end of the park.
DETAILS: Bring your own boat (kayak, canoe, SUP) or borrow on of ours! Willamette Riverkeeper and Oregon State Parks will be offering canoes upon request, and at no charge. Each canoe comes with 2 paddles, 2 PFDs and 2 whistles.
Plan to be on the river for about 4.5 hours. Be sure to dress for the weather and pack extra layers, sun glasses, hat, sunscreen, a whistle (as required by the US Coast Guard), PFD, water, snacks and a lunch.
Restrooms will be available on site at Wallace Marine Park. This is an all ages event, however minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
SHUTTLE: We will run a FREE shuttle service for this trip! Meet us at Wallace Marine Park at 9:30am to check in and have a safety chat. At the take out, we'll drive you and your boats back to Wallace Marine Park.
Participants are also welcome to set their own shuttle. Keep in mind that the drive from Wheatland Bar to Wallace Marine Park is ~25 minutes. Be sure that you allow yourself enough time to arrive at Wallace Marine Park by 9:30am.
COVID: We will be following local and state guidelines for this event. Masks cannot be worn while on the water, due to the safety risk that imposes. However masks are encouraged while on the shuttle bus at the end of the trip. Masks will be provided if you do not have your own.
