WHAT: Join Trashy Tuesday withWillamette Riverkeeper River Guardians in partnership with City of Eugene for an on the water cleanup.
WHERE & WHEN: Tuesday, December 14, 2021 we will be floating and picking up trash from Aspen and West D Boat Ramp in Springfield, to Alton Baker Park in Eugene focusing on removing waterway debris from islands, areas under bridges, and the south bank between UO and EWEB on properties not easily accessible by foot.
BYOB VOLUNTEERS PLEASE MEET AT 8:15AM (boaters) at the West D Boat Ramp to shuttle our vehicles to Alton Baker. Turn south off Martin Luther King / Centennial Blvd. on Aspen and follow the gravel road past the upper parking area to the boat ramp.
RESERVED SEAT-IN-RAFT VOLUNTEERS please park at Alton Baker boat ramp no later than 8:45AM. (To get to the boat ramp area, drive through the parking areas and follow the main road to the east - you will see a boat ramp sign on the right. If you get to a community garden or dog park, turn around, you've gone too far!)
A Covid safe shuttle to the put-in will be provided by City of Eugene Recreation. Please plan to help unload boats and be finished by 1PM.
All BYOB paddlers must be able to adequately paddle in class 2 moving water. NO BOAT? NO WORRIES - your RSVP will reserve a seat in a raft or driftboat and a PFD. Because we will be working from the water, PFDs are REQUIRED, and can be provided by Willamette Riverkeeper as indicated in the registration.
PLEASE BRING mask, snacks, water and appropriate layers for the weather. Please wear closed-toe shoes with good tread, long sleeves and pants. Wool or neoprense socks recommended to keep feet warm if you're not wearing water-specific shoes. Gloves, pickers, garbage bags, tools, tarps will be provided.
