Salem: McLane Island Paddle & Cleanup

WHAT: Willamette Riverkeeper, Oregon State Parks and the City of Keizer present, a cleanup event in celebration of 100 years of Oregon State Parks! This on water trash cleanup event will take participants on a paddle and trash cleanup from Salem to Keizer.

WHEN & WHERE: Thursday, August 11, from 9am - 1pm. Our group will meet at the boat ramp at the furthest southern end of Wallace Marine Park located on the west side of the river: 200 Glenn Creek Road NW Salem, OR 97304. Free parking is available. *Do not leave any valuables in your car.

DETAILS: Pack along water, work gloves if you have them, a snack and sturdy close toed shoes that can get wet. Be sure to dress for the weather and pack along a hat and sunscreen! We will provide trash bags, non-latex gloves and trash pickers. 

There are 2 options to participating in this on water event:
- BYO-boat for this cleanup event - don't forget your paddle and PFD.
- Borrow a Willamette Riverkeeper canoe. Each canoe seats 2 people and comes with 2 PFDs and 2 paddles. Supply is limited and must be reserved in advance through this registration. If reserving a WRK canoe, you must come with your own paddling partner.

Our group will be launching at Wallace Marine Park - participants should be ready to have a safety chat and get on the water at 9am. The group will paddle down river and make stops at McLane Island, as well as Wallace House Park, where we will exit our boats to collect trash. The total paddle length is 5 miles from Wallace Marine to Keizer Rapids Park.

Public restrooms will be available at Keizer Rapids Park. 

This is an all ages event. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

SHUTTLE: Willamette Riverkeeper has space in our van to shuttle 9 participants back to Wallace Marine Park when the trip is complete. Your seat must be reserved in advance.

Participants are welcome to set their own shuttle as well. Note that the drive from Keizer Rapids Park to Wallace Marine Park is ~20 minutes. Plan accordingly and be sure to arrive ready at the Wallace Marine Park boat ramp at 9am.
