Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Willamette Riverkeeper

Willamette Riverkeeper Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Statement

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are important, interdependent components of everyday life at Willamette Riverkeeper (WR) and are critical to the pursuit of our mission.

Our aim is to foster a culture where every member of Willamette Riverkeeper feels valued, supported and inspired to work harder for the health of our river and our community. This includes providing opportunity and access for all people across differences of race, age, color, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion, national origin, migratory status, disability/abilities, political affiliation, veteran status and socioeconomic background.

Diversity includes characteristics of race, age, color, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion, national origin, migratory status, disability/abilities, political affiliation, veteran status and socioeconomic background. It also includes differences in backgrounds, ideas, thought, values and beliefs.  Embracing differences make us better stewards of our natural environment.

Equity requires providing justice, fairness and access to opportunities and resources for all members of our organization. In creating and sustaining a climate where equity and mutual respect are intrinsic, we nurture a success-oriented, cooperative and caring organization and programming.

To be an inclusive organization is to respect everyone, value differences, acknowledge the impact of differences and capitalize on those differences by drawing on our mutual strengths to produce programming and solutions for the Willamette River Basin. Our aim is to foster a culture where every member of WR feels valued, supported and inspired.
