Located just south of the downtown Portland core, the ecologically-important Holgate Channel connects the 160-acre Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge and the Ross Island archipelago, providing habitat for native fish and wildlife species like the threatened chinook salmon, as well as other species that rely on the area for nesting, that include bald eagles and great blue heron.
Spend the day outside and improve the environmental quality of the Holgate Channel with Willamette Riverkeeper and SOLVE! If you are an experienced boater, paddleboarder or kayaker we encourage you to BYOV (bring your own vessel). If you are on foot, we will be picking up trash along the riverbank at Sellwood Riverfront Park.
