Clean Water/ Clean Sediment
WRK monitors permits issued by the Department of Environmental Quality and other agencies, ensure the enforcement of the Clean Water Act and other laws, and advocate for good policies that promote a healthy Willamette River. Permit commits and actions are listed on the ALERTS page.
Superfund
Since the designation of the Portland Harbor Superfund site in 2000 WRK has been a leading voice for a timely – comprehensive cleanup and have work in organizing the local community to assure the public has a voice in the cleanup process.
Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring
WRK volunteers perform water quality monitoring at sites from Portland to Eugene. Additional monitoring and research projects are implemented by WRK staff. E.coli data available here.
River Discovery Education
With a combination of paddle trips, publications, and presentations WRK educates the public about recreational opportunities and current environmental issues on the Willamette River.
Willamette River Water Trail
Options for recreation from Eugene to Portland have be highlighted in new signage, river map and website for the first stretch of the Willamette River Water Trail.
Habitat Restoration
WRK works on habitat restoration issues throughout the watershed through involvement with existing restoration and planning programs, as well as actively surveying the river for potential riparian restoration projects.
