The Clean River Program seeks to ensure that the Clean Water Act and other environmental laws are fully implemented in the Willamette Basin, and to advocate for good policies that promote a healthy and clean Willamette River. Our goal is to restore the Willamette’s water quality and sediments to conditions safe and clean for fish and wildlife, fishing and swimming. This includes work to ensure that water quality standards are met, along with actions to prevent degradation of existing conditions. We work on a range of issues and activities that affect the Willamette River's health, from individual discharge permits and public pollution complaints, to state water quality standards and the Portland Harbor Superfund site.
